Synopsis

When a bumbling British MP, Simon Foster, accidentally causes a media splash by mentioning the possibility of an attack on the Middle East, the waves are felt on both sides of the pond. His governments chief spin doctor is sent in to manage the situation, and Foster soon finds himself out of his depth and in over his head, faced with abusive peaceniks, unhinged warmongers, infantile bureaucrats and bickering interns.

Shot in fly-on-the-wall style, In The Loop is as expertly and continuously funny as any comedy in years.

Yet little of the dialogue is quotable - not just because of the constant obscenities from his aide Malcolm (Peter Capaldi) but because the real source of the humour is the failure of language to express ideas or accomplish any practical goals.
