Pearson Australia Group Pty Ltd ABN 40 004 245 943 (Pearson) has purchased Borders Australia Online (Borders) from REDgroup Retail Pty Ltd and now owns and operates Borders' online retail trading business. Pearson's contact details are set out at the end of this document.
As a result of its purchase of Borders, Pearson has collected and holds the personal information of Borders' customers and visitors to the Borders' website, including the customer lists contained in Borders' databases and those associated with the Tangent Online Australia platform. These databases contain, amongst other things and details of loyalty program members, gift card recipients and individuals who have signed up to marketing mail-outs, Borders’ email program and/or other promotional advertisements from Borders.
Pearson is committed to protecting the personal privacy of our customers and observing the National Privacy Principles pursuant to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Any personal information that Pearson has collected as a result the purchase of Borders, or will collect in the future, will now be used, disclosed, managed and stored in accordance with Pearson's Privacy Policy and you consent to Pearson handling your information as provided for in this Policy.
Collection and use
Pearson collects and uses your personal information for the purposes of operating the Borders Australia Online business. Such information is generally supplied when customers register details, place and pay for an order, seek a refund without a receipt or provide feedback. Generally, the information collected includes customer name, address, delivery address, phone number and other contact details (fax, email etc), merchandise information (purchases, orders etc), and method of payment including credit or debit card number and expiry date. By obtaining the above information, Pearson may process your order and communicate with you.
You are not obliged to provide us with your personal information; however if you choose not to provide us with the information we request, we may not be able to provide you with the information or service you have sought, including the purchase and delivery of items from this website.
Disclosure
Pearson may disclose information to third parties in accordance with its Privacy Policy. This may include to other members of the Pearson Group and other third party providers who may be located overseas.
Changes in corporate structure
In developing our business, Pearson may engage in the sale of certain assets and may otherwise sell, merge or transfer any part of the company. In such transactions and changes in ownership, user information (whether personally identifiable or otherwise) may constitute one of the transferred assets.
