  A great read and cleverly written by Bryce Courtney as he craftily weaves his characters with a plot that ensures the element of surprise is ever present throughout. The emotions go on a roller coaster ride experiencing peaks and troughs.

  This is a MUST read for any westerner, male and female thinking about moving, living or working in any islamic country but particularly in the Middle East. While no book can ever give us the exactness of reality for these people Geraldine Brooks has brought has so close to it and given an opportunity to put some context around the lives of this foreign existence, opportunity to build a basis at least with which to begin a level of understanding about a part in the world, a way of life never known in western styles of living. This is more than a story, this is a new beginning about age old traditions and secret practices that until now many of us have been protected from or are ignorant about. I have passed this onto many and they are left with their jaws hanging. Commonly said after reading this book, "I had no idea"!!

  This was an excellent read, couldn't put it down for a few days. The pages just kept turning. However have to say the ending is the only part where it seems to become thin on substance. However i would still highly recommend this book.

  This was a great read and the hero is someone we can all relate to and want to emulate. A true Aussie character in every sense of the word. I was sorry when i got to the end, I wanted to be around Nick for some more heroic deeds.

  Fall of Giants

  This was an excellent read particularly if you like the twists and turns of the plot and it heroes/heroines against the odds and villains, that are so intricately woven by Ken Follett as he establishes his characters, their strengths, weaknesses, oppportunities some from birth others earned through sheer guts and determination. I want to know where he is going to take Ethel, Billy and Grigori and what will become of Lady Maud the fallen woman from her elitist heritage and will the weasel Fitz get his comeupance? Bring on the sequel.
