What is Borders Returns Policy?

Borders will refund any defective item and we’re more than happy to refund, credit or exchange any item that's in a saleable condition, excluding magazines and clearance items. Without proof of purchase we can only exchange or credit.

To claim a refund, exchange, credit, or for further information visit your nearest Borders store. For store locations and contact details check out our stores

Do you have the book/CD/DVD I am after?

We are unable to answer specific product queries via email. Please contact your local store and a staff member will be happy to help you with another product query.

You can now purchase our gift cards through our Borders online catalogue website. To purchase an gift card online, click on buy gift cards in the top navigation and follow the prompts. You will be able to choose from a $25, $50 or $100 gift card.

Please note: postage is from $2.95 and is to be paid in addition to the selected gift cards. Gift cards will be delivered to your nominated delivery address and will take up to 5 days.

Borders online selection is made up of current campaign titles and is not an inventory of our huge in store range of over 200,000.

If you are unable to locate your title in our selection, our store teams will be more than happy to help you find what you are looking for. Please contact your local Borders store.

Paperchase is our gifts and stationery range, exclusive to Borders. Designed in London, this fashionable and innovative stationery includes a broad range of items from iPod covers, journals and diaries to wrapping paper and gift tags. To view, click on paperchase in the top navigation menu.

Why can't I search for product on your website?

Borders online selection consists of current campaign titles only, reflecting a small selection of Borders vast in-store range of over 200,000 titles. As this range is limited, a search function may not often bring the title results you are looking for. It’s best to contact your nearest store to locate product information from our full range.

Technical Issues


I had technical problems when purchasing my gift card online and am not sure if the transaction went through.

First check that you have enough funds on your credit card account. If you are still having issues, check with your bank to see whether they can provide further information on your credit card. If you wish to contact Borders in regards to this matter, please contact our gift card technical support.

It's been over 5 days and I (or recipient) have still not received my gift card/s.

Please contact our customer service team to track your order (orders over 5 days old only). Please include your receipt number and order details in this email.

I can't print the lists.

If you are having difficulty printing the lists on your printer, this could be an issue with your browser, computer or printer. It is best to email our technical team with your printer error message and a detailed explanation as to what occurs when you try and print and we will be in touch to resolve your issue.

I did not receive an email receipt.

There are a number of reasons why you may not have received an email receipt.

  1. The email could be in your Junk Email folder.
  2. The email address may have contained a typing error.
  3. Your server or file wall may be blocking the email from accessing your mail box.

I don't have a printer.

If you do not have a printer, you have the following options:

  1. Send the list to another email address (perhaps your work address) where you have access to a printer.
  2. Send this list to your friend and ask them to print the list on your behalf.
  3. Contact your nearest store and ask the staff to put aside the products on your list so you can easily pick these up when you are next in store.

How can I sign up to the Shortlist?

Borders weekly e-newsletter, the Shortlist is full of the latest product information on new and upcoming releases. It contains exclusive interviews with authors and artists and fantastic value offers. You can subscribe to the Shortlist here.

I've changed my email address but would still like to receive the Shortlist.

If you still have access to your old email address, click on "Update Your Profile" in the footer of the Shortlist. If you do not have access to your old email address, please email customer care and we will update on your behalf.

If you would like to update other details such as your postcode or product preferences, please click on "Update Your Profile" in the footer of the Shortlist and re-submit your new information.

In order to unsubscribe you will need to open the email newsletter and click on the "Unsubscribe" link located at the footer of your Borders Shortlist. This way we can verify your email address and ensure that you are correctly removed from the Shortlist email database.
