  Read it!! Adventurous, spiritual and insightful :)
  Paulo's work is very calming to read as well and allows your brain to think at a different level :D

  It's been a long time since I read this book. If I was a better reviewer, I'd go back and read it again before putting my thoughts here. Sadly, though, I have already lost four hours of my life to this drivel, and don't care to put myself through it again. I remember a long walk, sand, many adjectives and a strong anti-female sentiment.
  
  I recently noticed 'The Alchemist' made it to the 'Facebook Recommends' list here on the Borders website, at which point the bile rose in my gut and I turned into the literary version of The Hulk. That such a wet, lifeless, insipid piece of New Age trite seems to be so well loved is beyond me.
  
  I'd love to hear why on earth people like this book... enlighten me, please, because 'The Alchemist' certainly didn't.
